Special Housing Referral Program
The Cooperative Resource Center has provided hundreds of homeless and at-risk Georgians with independent, unsubsidized housing opportunities through its Special Housing Referral Program. This program is designed specifically to address the needs of those very, very low income families and individuals who live on less than 30% of Area Median Income, and who are currently without adequate housing. For this group, securing adequate housing can be nearly impossible due to application fees, high dollar security deposits, credit history requirements, and employment issues. With a Special Housing Referral from CRC, a family of four living on no more than $1400 a month can secure a 2- or 3-bedroom apartment at a specially reduced rental rate – one that they can afford without government support. All participants receive personal financial and budget counseling. Residents in this program also receive active case management that helps them to create a more solid and independent life, and guides them along a positive decision-making course. CRC works in partnership with several local nonprofit and government agencies to identify and target program participants. |

“My experience of working with the housing program has been a blessing in and of itself. I now have a place to call home. It is mine and I am proud of it. My daughter is proud of it as well. We both value walking into our own place everyday. It brings a peace that it is unexplainable.
Financially, I am now in a position where I can pay off some debt which will enable me to pursue my dream of owning a home someday. This blessing from your organization is much appreciated.
Your seminar was on point. It was spiritually empowering as well as uplifting. I walked away inspired, again, thanks to CRC for their emotional, financial, and spiritual support.”
